Brown's 2005 Executive Functioning model underpins ADHD assessment and is used to indentify areas od day to day life that challenge a person.
Executive Functioning develops during childhood and varies for those who are neurodiverse.
Struggling to start tasks? Difficutlies in completing a task? Lots of piles of things around the home? ("doom piles"). Lose your keys constantly? Are you a night owl or having sleep difficutlies?
Executive functions are cognitive processes that include initiation, planning, time management, motivation, organisation skills and working memory. These all have an important role in how we perform in school, at work and how we fulfil our roles in families or independently.
Finding ways to manage the challenges and impacts of neurodiversity on executive functiing can boost wellbeing, understanding and help to counteract some of the frustrations in daily life that people with ADHD / AuDHD experience.
